Annual Awards Dinner
The
awards dinners for both the Adult and Youth were held during the 2nd
& 3rd week of June. They had a great turn out. All
the winners & their guests from the entire season
were treated to a great meal!! At the adult banquet we had
a special presentation to the West Michigan Affiliate of the Susan G.
Komen association (see other article) and at the youth banquet
the Scholarship winners were announced. Also the all-city teams
were introduced.

Dear Bowler,
Well the 4th of July
has come and gone already, that means the summer is upon
us. We are just finishing up with the awards banquets so now
we can complete the season ending paperwork that needs to
be done to get the yearbook published. A fresh new
season is right around the corner. We hope you enjoy the
nice weather and have a great summer.
Sincerely,

Women's State Tournament
hosted
by Grand Rapids USBC
Whenever there is a
women's state tournament in our town one of the ways we earn
additional money to help support the GGRUSBC Association is sell
merchandise (shirts, towels, etc.). This has been a tradition
for the women's tournaments as far back as I can remember.
Last year when Western Wayne hosted the tournament besides selling
merchandise they raffled off blankets with the pink ribbon designs
and donated the money to the National Susan G. Komen
Foundation. We chose to follow in their footsteps as far as
the blankets are concerned the only exception is that we chose to
keep the money local (in GRAND RAPIDS). On Thursday June
14 at our awards dinner held at Lincoln Country Club we were able
to donate $10,001.00 to the West Michigan Affiliate of Susan G.
Komen. Tanya Horan the Develpment Coordinator was on hand to
accept our check and gave a little insight as to how the money is
distributed. 75% of all funds raised local stay local and 25%
goes to national for research. Here in West Michigan we are
lucky because the VanAndel Research gets that 25%. So for us
all the funds stay local and get granted locally to organizations
who give education, screening and treatment.
Thanks to all the people
who donated their time to making the blankets, they did a great job
along with the people that sold the tickets. And of course to
all the people that bought the tickets, thank you for your
support!!!
