Tournament Averages

Beginning with this bowling season, the Greater Grand Rapids USBC will be utilizing a
tournament average for most of its handicap tournaments. Bowlers with atleast 18 games over the last 5 seasons will use either their book
average or their tournament average – whichever is higher.

The average includes data from, and will be utilized in, the following tournaments: 500/600,
700/800, Seniors’, Mixed Doubles, City Open, City Women’s.

All-City Point Changes

This summer, the Bowling Council met and made some modifications to the point system used to determine the All-City Team Selections.

  • Tournament points for a bowler’s score will be based on the bowler’s 1st entry into the tournament, no longer the highest.
  • Games bowled between 290-299 in tournaments will now earn 5 points.
  • League Participation points have changed to the following:
    • 60 games in one league    – 30 pts
    • 45-59 games in one league – 15 pts
    • 21-44 games in one league  – 0 pts
    • Less than 21 games in one league – Ineligible to make All-City Team
