Reminder! Annual Meeting This Thursday, May 10 at 7pm

The Annual Meeting is scheduled for May 10th at 7pm.  It will be held in the Bingo Room (the high end past lane 60) at Westgate Lanes.

All sanctioned members of the Greater Grand Rapids USBC are welcome, and encouraged to attend.  Those attending will be able to vote on directors and delegates that will represent the GRGRUSBC.

Special guest speaker this year is Ben Brose, Northeast Regional Manager.  He will be addressing the new Equipment Specifications that will be going into effect over the new few seasons.  There will be a video, FAQ sheets, and a Q&A opportunity.

Annual Meeting and Eligibility for Nomination

Dear League Officer/Association Member,

The 2018 Annual meeting of the Greater Grand Rapids USBC Association will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018, 7:00 p.m. at Westgate Lanes

The following positions are to be filled by election for the corresponding terms:

  • President
  • 5 Directors
  • Youth Director
  • Delegates to the 2019 USBC National Meeting
  • Delegates to the 2019 Michigan State USBC

Interested persons must submit the enclosed candidate application postmarked by May 3rd, 2018 and be in attendance at the Annual Meeting (or have a note on file requesting to be excused).

To be eligible for nomination as an officer or director, a candidate must be:

  1. A USBC member in good standing of the association at the time of election and throughout their term.
  2. Must not be bowling in any un-certified (sanctioned) leagues of American Ten Pin.
  3. Must have a working knowledge of USBC rules and regulations.
  4. Must have a working knowledge of Robert’s Rules of Parliamentary Procedures.
  5. Time to serve on committees and attend 6-7 board meetings each year.
  6. Candidates to be eligible for nomination as an officer shall have served at least three years as a member of GGRUSBC Board of Directors.

Additional eligibility requirements, if any, will be developed by the Nominating Committee.

Anyone wishing to be considered as a director or delegate must submit their qualifications to the Nominating Committee on the approved (enclosed) application. This form must be postmarked by May 3rd, 2018.

Nominations from the floor may be made, providing the candidate’s qualifications have been submitted to the Nominating Committee at least one week prior to the opening of the Annual Meeting.  These qualifications must be submitted on the approved candidate nomination form (application enclosed).

There’s still time to enter the City Tournament! And we have more lanes!!

Due to the strong demand for April squads, we’ve worked with Lincoln Lanes to make more lanes available to you for the City Tournament. As such, some squads which were previously full now have availability. Here’s the latest availability.

New Divisions

Class A has effectively been split into 2 divisions, resulting in 4 total divisions.  Class A is now 180 and over for boys, and 160 and over for girls.  Class B will now be boys 140-179, and girls 121-159.  Class C (formerly Class B) is boys 106-139 and girls 85-120.  Class D (formerly Class C) is boys 105 and under, girls 84 and under.
